Yup, that's me. You're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.
It all started while scrolling mindlessly through Instagram, when I came across an ad on my feed about some work/travel program called Remote Year (creepy, because I had just binge-followed a bunch of travel pages...those damn cookies were good for something for once). It seemed too good to be true, but within the next couple of months, I had applied, interviewed and been accepted into the #RY program. For anyone who thinks something is completely out of reach, it never hurts to take a chance. You might be pleasantly surprised.
To give a little background on Remote Year, it can be described as a remote-based, co-working program comprised of 75 (81 in our case) diverse individuals traveling together to 12 different cities across the world in one year. The purpose of the program is to allow those with the desire to travel the chance to do so without disrupting the development of their careers. Remote Year provides living arrangements, travel between cities, cultural immersion experiences, and most importantly a corporate space for the group to use 24/7 as needed for our individual working purposes.
I count myself lucky to have met the qualifications of the program. Because my job is set up to be either office-based or field-based, I will be continuing my current work and toting my little laptop around the world for the next 12 months, praying that it doesn't break.
Below is a snapshot breakdown of our travel group, Meraki.

If you've read this far, I owe you a steak dinner. Just kidding. Lots more to be shared in the coming days. For now, I'd like to give a special shout out to those who were able to make this crazy adventure possible for me by providing not only monetary support, but words of wisdom and encouragement when I needed it most:
Aunt Dianna, Aunt Lu & Uncle Marshall, Memi, Mom & Dad
And of course, a big thanks to the gorgeous (inside and out) group of girls I am lucky to call my best friends, who reminded me that I am loved, brave and probably the only one crazy enough to do something like this.
